We just finished a fabulous fourth of July week end and the results were very rewarding. The weather was with us 100 % and most of the customers were happy with their fishing experiences.

We heard of many perch reports and a lot of big pike. Walleye came in good for some, not that good for others. Bass were going nuts out there, and the pan fish were showing up in good numbers, gills, crappie, and sun fish.

The most bait we sold were of course our giant crawlers. Minnows and leeches sold well also, and the Lorie rigs were the ticket for most customers too. Again,top stick baits for walleye were Berkley Flicker Shad and Hot’N’Tots. Bass were going for a variety of baits such as top waters, tubes already, spinners baits and of course live bait, such as crawlers, baby suckers and leeches.

I would like to mention that lately a lot of customers have commented on how our prices are so much better than all the other stores in Alpena. Thank you for that. We do price our inventory at a fair price and do not even try to compete with the big box stores, but evidently we are successful in our pricing and will continue to do so, to the best of our ability.
