A GREAT START IT WAS : )

Wow, Memorial day weekend was a great event for customers this year. We had cool air but clear and sunny all weekend.
We had a lot of tourists here and we thank you all, both for your patronage, but also for sharing with us your pictures, stories, and actually bringing in fish to show us. The fish ranged from pan fish to the Walleye and Pike. Bass of course are in a huge abundance, and still on their beds, and easy picking for just plain fishing fun. We saw some Walleye in the 20 inch plus range, and Blue Gills that will make the master angler board, for sure. Pike are in abundance this year, and we even were privileged to see some big Perch. I absolutely will not tell you that 100 % of you caught a lot of fish, because I am sure that at least one person did not. But the visual on the fish, the repeat bait customers, and the happy attitudes, told me volumes. Lorie even caught a Large Mouth Bass right off the dock at the cottage this week end, heralding a first for us for Long Lake. We have never before caught a Large Mouth.
The depths for the Walleye seemed to be in the 6 to 8 foot range for most, and shallower for some. The Gills were common at
Silver Weeds in Long Lake, and Grand Lake folks were fishing the weed beds and islands for optimum success. The live bait we saw leaving here were mostly night crawlers and we sold out of our jumbo Leeches and had to get restocked with them. The Lorie fly rigs and Lorie crawler harnesses proved very successful this week end. We always love to see our tourists coming to buy a supply of rigs for home use.
Rapalas worked well for Walleye, and top water baits for Bass were very popular. Hula poppers, jitter bugs, and of course a lot of tube baits left as well.

We’d like to plug our shop a bit and let you know that our crawlers are only $1.99 doz. this year. These are the big “giant crawlers” in foam boxes.
We also have a few new products including our ” Crawler coffins” that hold four dozen giants at a reduced price, and some neon green crawlers that left the shop as fast as we could stock them, more coming Friday.
With warmer weather coming, fishing will only get better. And for those of you who know the Liloc rules and rituals, they have just opened up in this neck of the woods, so watch out Walleye ! Hoo Rah.
We are open
