JUST LIKE SUMMER HERE

July 17th, 2008 by Budd

JULY 17, 2008, ABOUT 80 DEGREES THE NEXT FEW DAYS, A FEW POP UP STORMS THAT JUST WATER THE TOMATOES AND DON’T MEAN MUCH . NICE!

THE FISHING HERE IS STILL WONDERFUL: WE SAW NO REASON IT SHOULDN’T BE. OUR WALLEYE ARE COMING GREAT ON CRAWLERS AND HOT’N’TOTS, PERCH  ARE COMING IN AT THE WEED BEDS ON PERCH MINNOWS AND LEAF WORMS, THE BASS ARE A LITTLE DEEPER DUE TO THE HEAT, BUT STILL THRILLING FOLKS. AND THE PIKE HITS; WOW, ALMOST TOO MANY. SERIOUSLY, THE PIKE ARE RIPPING OFF A LOT OF CRAWLER HARNESSES AND GOING AFTER THE PEOPLE’S FISH AS THEY CRANK THEM IN. KIND OF A THRILL, BUT STILL, A LITTLE IRRITATING TOO. A LOT OF OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TAKEN TO USING OUR STEEL HARNESSES, AND ARE LANDING THE.PIKE. SOME OF THE PIKE ARE GOOD SIZE TOO, 30 INCH AND LARGER.

WE’VE SEEN SOME VERY NICE WALLEYE COMING IN HERE, AND RECOMMEND THE LORIE RIGS AND HOT’N’TOTS.

I HAVE NOT HEARD MUCH ABOUT LAKE HURON LATELY, AND WE WERE HOPING WE WOULD. ONE CUSTOMER SAID HE CAUGHT A COUPLE OF 7 POUND KINGS, AND A LAKER, BUT HE WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE. ANOTHER SAID THERE WAS AS MANY AS FIVE BOATS  AT ROCKPORT HARBOR. NOT MUCH FOR A BIG LAKE.

THE LONG LAKE CAMPGROUND IS ABOUT HALF FULL ACCORDING TO A FEW CAMPERS, SO THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR YOU THERE. THIS IS A LOT BETTER THAN LAST YEAR, WHEN ONLY ABOUT 9 CAMPERS WERE THERE. OUR LAKES ARE NOT LOW ON WATER LIKE LAST YEAR, AND THE HIGH WATER USUALLY MEANS GOOD FISHING. IT DOES THIS YEAR, THAT’S FOR SURE.

WE’RE OPEN 7 TO 6 DAILY

MONDAY 12 TO 6

HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON
