IT’S A GREAT PLACE TO BE

July 8th, 2008 by Budd

WE HAD AN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND! MY IMAGE MODE IS DOWN, OR I’D SHOW YOU A 41 INCH PIKE AND TWO SIX POUND BASS, CAUGHT AND RELEASED IN GRAND LAKE. WHAT MAGNIFICENT FISH. THANKS TO THE PARSON FAMILY WHO SENT THESE PICTURES TO ME.

IN GENERAL, THE FISHING IN LONG LAKE AND GRAND LAKE ARE AS GOOD AS IT GETS RIGHT NOW. WALLEYE, PIKE, BASS AND SOME PERCH ARE BEING CAUGHT. THERE ARE STILL SOME MAYFLIES HATCHING OUT, BUT FROM WHAT I’VE SEEN THIS PAST WEEK, THE FISH DON’T CARE, SO GET OUT THERE AND CATCH SOME NICE FISH.

HOT’N’TOTS AND RAPALAS WERE THE BEST ARTIFICIAL BAITS, AND GOOD OLD NIGHT CRAWLERS AND LORIE RIGS WERE KING FOR WALLEYE, AND BASS. A 39 INCH PIKE WAS CAUGHT AND RELEASED IN LONG LAKE, AFTER TAKING A LORIE RIG CALLED THE “LUDWIG”, OUR TOP SELLING RIG.

WATER LEVELS IN THE LAKES ARE STILL A LITTLE HIGH, WHICH IS GREAT FOR FISHING AND BOATING.WE’RE STILL A LITTLE COOL AT NIGHT, BUT JUST RIGHT DURING THE DAY. WE HAVE HEARD OF DEPTHS FROM 12 TO 16 FEET NOW, AND A LITTLE OFF THE BOTTOM, TO 2 FEET OFF THE BOTTOM.

FOLKS, I SAY THIS TO A LOT OF CUSTOMERS. THERE ARE THREE BASIC SECRETS TO CATCHING WALLEYE IN LONG OR GRAND LAKE. SPEED, GO ABOUT 1 MILE OR LESS, OR DRIFT, LET A LOT OF LINE OUT, A LOT! USE CRAWLERS AND LORIE RIGS. THE FOURTH UNSPOKEN RULE IS AS ALWAYS, LOCATION. WE’LL SHOW YOU WHERE AND HOW DEEP, AND WHAT COLORS ARE WORKING WHEN YOU COME IN, BECAUSE THESE FACTORS CAN CHANGE DAILY.

IF YOU WANT FISH, COME ON OVER, GET IN THE WATER, AND FISH. IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO BE !

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU REAL SOON

OPEN 70 TO 6 DAILY
