WE HAVE A WINNER [2] AND GOOD ICE TOO !
Yesterday a very happy couple collected their prize money in our Bait Rewards giveaway . Their number was picked out of a bucket by a customer, and the call was made. The winner also donated a $20 bill to the person who drew the lucky number. Congratulations. We will start a new contest today, and if there is still interest in this we will continue on a weekly basis, if not, we will discontinue it. If you are unfamiliar with this game, it goes like this. Donate $ 5 once into the pot per week, and get a number to play. Then every time you buy bait you get another [same] number to enter into the drawing. Then a customer draws the number on Sunday and we look up your phone number and call you. Need not be present to win. Very easy, and just a fun way of winning a bit of cash. It is a 100 % pay back.
The ice on Long and Grand lakes appears to be settling in with good results. We are hearing 4 to 9 inches of ice, and a few quads and snowmobiles are out there, as well as shanties, both portable and permanent. We do have a warm spell coming, with highs in the 40’s this week, and lows in the 20’s, so we think the ice will be fine. Caution is the key word though, and saves lives and equipment. The really good news is that some of our customers are telling us great fish catching stories, and on both lakes. Of course not every one is generous with details, and we understand and respect that. Speaking of respect.
We have heard of a few people encroaching on the folks already fishing. In plain English, this means you are making an unwelcome nuisance of yourselves by fishing right next to someone. And the lakes do belong to everyone equally and you have every “right” to do this. But just so you know, it’s not the thing to do.
Minnows are king right now for bait, waxies and wigglers on Long lake are working for perch and gills. Our Lorie Rig fly rigs are probably the most successful rigs to use on both lakes, by far.
We are open 7 to 5 daily
