WE JUST OPENED
We are expecting a minnow delivery today, as well as a rain/snow mix this weekend. Not a welcome weather pattern. The next and last few weeks of December forecast, shows some sharply lower temperatures, [teens ] more in tune with making good ice. HOW MUCH ICE DO WE HAVE ? That’s been the topic here and my answer is a guarded, ” not much .” We sure don’t want anyone going out for fish and not come back to Buck’s for more bait. Secondly, now that I am here from dawn to dark, seven days a week, I won’t know a thing about ice conditions until someone ventures out and reports back, hopefully the next day.
We have had a lot of phone calls and inquiries though, and some folks do need some gifts for Christmas, and gift certificates for the hard to please folks, so, WE JUST OPENED, fully stocked and ready for your sales. We accept cash, checks, or credit cards by the way. We have so many tip ups and Lorie Rigs and combos, and terminal tackle, that the other bait shop in town told me he didn’t need to buy anything, that he would just send his customers here.
Seriously though folks, we have an enormous supply of Lorie Rigs, tear drops, ice jigs, rod and reel combos, and hooks and sinkers and all the other stuff you need to get a fish.
We are open 7-5 daily except closed for Christmas day.
We will be open right through and including New Years Eve and day
For an accurate three day forecast for Alpena, just log onto this site and look at the weather bar on the right of the page.
I will edit this page as needed, and let you know when the ice is thought to be safe all over. For the 18 years we have been here, and this being our 19Th winter, we have had ice for fishing all 18 years by Christmas, 100 % of the years. And for 18 years we have told everyone to be safe, careful, and not trust the ice 100 % , [ ever ].
Hope to see you soon.
