The Long Lake Association family fishing derby was a huge success. There were fish of all kinds and sizes caught.

The Jerry Baker award went to a young fellow by the name of Ethen Stokosa. he caught the biggest legal size Walleye, age 12 or under. congratulations Ethan.

There were nice Walleye caught, winners 16 to 17 1/2 inches, Bass, 18 to 19 1.2 inches, Perch, 11 or better inches, Pike 27 to 28, and blue Gill, 8 7/8 to 9 1/4. These were just the  age 16 and under anglers too. Congratulations young ladies and gentlemen.

The day was hot, about 95, and sunny, and all did well, there were no problems, and we congratulate all the people fishing for good behavior. Also a special thanks to the board members who endured the heat and took a day to help out . There were prizes galore for the youth, and good prizes too. Thank you Dodge Marine and Storage for your use of the Marina, and the food and services you provided, way to go Tim.

I just have to add this unexpected endorsement involving our products here at Buck’s. A special thanks to our DNR officers who were present at the derby, on the lake and also at the weigh in, or measure in.  I am sure you have all noticed their professional and polite ,  at the same time, attitudes. Oh, yes if you are in violation you will get a warning or a ticket, but these guys also want to help you have a good fishing experience.  One officer noted that a lot of anglers were using Lorie rig harnesses or fly rigs.  He also noted one boat that had no fish. When they asked him where are all the fish, he said ” you folks need to get to Buck’s and get a few Lorie rigs. ”  Of course, first , “thank you’ but secondly, he is telling you the truth, absolutely, but it is good to hear someone else say it beside us. And an officer would know a lot more about catches than we ever would.

The summer  is winding down way too fast, so you might want to get off the couch and into the boat, and catch some fish while there is still some summer left. Long lake and Grand lake are very good this year.
