Welcome back  to Buck’s Bait and Tackle , for the summer of 2012, fishing in Michigan.

FREE FISH WEEKEND !!! JUNE 9,10. Fish free of a license all weekend,inland waters and the great lakes. but follow all the rules.Imagine catching a 5 lb Walleye on Long or Grand and no license, this weekend, this  weekend, only. Good luck ! All species are open too.

Memorial weekend  here was memorable all right, with two great days to start, and then wind, rain, thunder, and more wind to finish off  the holiday kickoff weekend. Sunday afternoon we saw a steady stream of boats and campers heading South, having had enough bad weather.

But the first two days did show us something we were hoping for. First of all, a lot of friends showed up from out of town and out of state, thank you. And you people did bring in some encouraging stories and pictures of fish caught on either Long or Grand lakes. Walleye, tons of Bass. great Pike, and Gills, and even a few nice Perch. So what we learned from that was that the lakes are healthy and we just need a break in the weather for you and us.

We are open, fully stocked and anxious to see all our old friends and new ones that have yet to arrive.

We are open now, 7 AM to 6 PM, 7 days a week. We continue to accept payments here for the Long Lake   Association membership, and there is going to be a Fish Derby on Long Lake, Aug. 4. You need this 15.00 membership card for your whole family to fish the derby. This year there will be a kayak raffled off, and a lot of prizes for children and adults. As well as cash prizes, food, beverages, and a lot of fun for every one.

The cormorant program for 2012 has ended for the year. The volunteers for USDA did a great job again, and again, thank you. The reports showed a minimal amount of birds again this year, and shows us that the diligence of our team is paying off with a good control program.

So, please get on out and fish, and enjoy these lakes, and visit us, and get a ” line ” on the new and successful Lorie rigs, fly rigs and other great items we have here.
