GREAT FISHING, GOOD ICE SOON ?

JAN. 21, UPDATE AND GOOD NEWS.

We have just had very cold weather and the ice appears to be much better, We have also had quite a bit of snowfall, so snowmobiles are a go, the ice has been blacked out so the fish cannot see you so good anymore. The fish being caught are good sized and in good numbers on both Long and Grand lakes. You still need to be cautious and know where you are  in terms of ice thickness. Most customers tell us there is 8 to 12 inches all over, but I’m sure there might be some troublesome spots, so use caution. Hey, don’t we always do that in the winter ?  Good luck, hope to see you soon.

We have delayed updating this site because of the confusing weather patterns here. We have had ice three times and a thaw three times. Currently there are open areas of water on both Long and Grand lakes. There is also some great fishing going on, and some very large Perch and Walleye have been caught on both lakes.

Caution is the key word right now, and look for other  people fishing  and then proceed with caution.  I get at least a dozen calls a day asking how is the ice. We do not get to see the lakes here at the shop of course, so we are depending on fishermen to voice concerns or part with information.

Thursday night, tomorrow night, a huge cold front is coming, and it is a big cold front that we will welcome with open arms. Lows in the teens and highs in the 20’s.  As of now, the Grand Lake tournaments on Feb 18, will still be held, ice permitting.  I will keep you posted, but the forecast looks good, and the fishing is already good.
