SOON, BUT NOT YET

LORIE AND I TOOK A TOUR AROUND OUR LAKES YESTERDAY, AND WHILE THERE WAS A LOT OF THAWING AT THE SHORE LINES, AND SOME DARK AREAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAKES, THERE IS STILL NO REAL SIGN OF OPEN WATER. ONE OF OUR RELATIVES SAID YOU COULD PUT YOUR BOAT IN THE WATER BUT YOU COULDN’T GO ANYWHERE. AND WE DID NOTICE THAT THE WATER WAS HIGH ON THE SHORES .
WITH THE WARMER AIR COMING NOW, THE ICE COULD LEAVE ANY DAY NOW. I DON’T THINK IT WILL LAST ANOTHER WEEK.
BY THE TIME WE OPEN THIS STORE IN MAY, THE WATER WILL BE OPEN AND FISHING WILL BE POSSIBLE ON BOTH LONG AND GRAND LAKE. AND WALLEYE AND PIKE WILL ONCE AGAIN BE OPEN.
THERE HAS BEEN SOME FISHING GOING ON AT THE 9TH STREET DAM, AND WHILE A FEW WALLEYE HAVE BEEN CAUGHT AND RELEASED, WE HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY GREAT STEELHEAD RUNS YET.
THERE ARE SOME FOLKS FISHING OUT OF ROCKPORT HARBOR AND HAVE REPORTED CATCHING SOME LAKE TROUT VERY CLOSE TO SHORE. LAKE TROUT SEASON IS NOT OPEN YET, BUT THE FISH DON’T KNOW THAT. THE AREA IS THAWED OUT THOUGH, AND FISHABLE. YOU MIGHT CATCH A WALLEYE OR BROWN THERE, AND THEY ARE OPEN YEAR ROUND.ALPENA HARBOR IS OPEN AND YOU JUST MIGHT CATCH A WALLEYE OR BROWN TROUT THERE AS WELL.
WE ARE GETTING THIS SHOP READY FOR YOU AND WE ARE CLOSE. NEW LURES, NEW AND EXCITING COLORS FOR LORIE RIGS ARE HANGING UP, AND WE HAVE A GREAT NEW ENTRANCE TO THE SHOP NOW. WE GOT RID OF THAT BROKEN CONCRETE AND BUILT A NICE DECK WITH BENCHES TO RELAX ON, AND FOR YOU TELL FISH STORIES TO EACH OTHER. AND WE HOPE THERE ARE LOTS OF STORIES TO TELL THIS YEAR, EVEN IF SOME OF THEM ARE TRUE.
WELL, JUST A FEW MORE WEEKS OF VACATION FOR ME, THEN WE’LL SEE YOU HERE. UNTIL THEN.

HAVE A GREAT SPRING

LORIE AND BUDD
