THE DEEP FREEZE.

January 27th, 2019 by Budd

WOW! our area like most of northern Michigan is in a prolonged deep freeze . The ice reports range from 16 to 20 inches thick, and wind chills are almost unbearable.

And yet the fishing has been for the most part, good on both long and grand lakes. Proper clothing is a must, shanties of any kind are a luxury and make fishing tolerable. There is snow on top of the ice, some quads are having trouble on it, snowmobile owners are having a ball.

We just finished one tournament, no report on results yet. Next in line is the Grand Lake Derby, Feb 9, weigh in 7 pm on at north end. No fee. Just prizes.

Next event is the Reel Fun ice derby, Feb 23, 12 to 3, costs 25.00.

If you are tough enough for this weather, and properly equipped, come on over and get some bait and Lorie Rigs and get out and catch fish.
