We have been hearing good news these past few days. It sounds like the ice has stiffened and thickened a lot since this cold front came through.

Good news for us when customers tell us about their fish catches and then return for more bait and tackle. If you would look at our long range and current weather picture…WE’RE BACK TO MORE NORMAL WINTER ICE.

There will always be different ice thicknesses on huge lakes like Long and Grand. There can be no such thing as guaranteed safe ice all over, but we have surely increased thickness of ice and this is encouraging. There is a hard crust of snow on top, and that helps too.

We cannot tell you enough times to be cautious. Look for others on the ice, and be very cautious . People are returning to the lakes here.

Fish like perch and walleye and pike are being caught folks. Blues,Lorie fly rigs, and a host of jigging lures are working.
