I am sorry to have to report a fatal accident on Long Lake, Jan. 4, 2019.

A snowmobile accident Friday morning claimed the life of a woman when her machine went through the ice about 200 yards off shore.  This happened off of Lake Shore drive. That area had previously been open water, but after a -5 degree night, thin ice formed followed by a 7″ snow storm, that hid the dangerously thin ice. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this person.

Our customers fishing Long Lake today tell me the area north of that is still good ice and fishing has been very good.

If you are not very familiar with the lake, USE EXTREME CAUTION. And if you are familiar with the area, STILL use extreme caution. And this applies to Grand lake and any other body of water this early in the season.

Fishing is good here, but life is precious.
