And the next big fishing event in our area is The Annual Long Lake family fishing Derby. This will be August 5,2017. The time is from 7 am to 3 pm.  This event has been going on for decades now  and really targets family fun. To get in you just need to donate $15.00 and this includes your entire household. There will be prizes for adults and children. There will be cash prizes, gifts for all children regardless of fish caught, food and  beverage provided at Dodge Marine and Storage off of US 23 on Long Lake avenue, right on Long Lake about 2 miles north of Bucks Bait and Tackle.We have entry forms at the shop if you need one. To avoid any misunderstanding  about that family rule we simply say that when your children have grown up and have their own home and maybe family, they need their own ticket. The 15 dollar entry fee allows your household to  win prizes, free food, and enjoy an enormous day on the lake. Any supplemental funds you pay will go directly into the lakes to restock fish, usually walleye.

The prizes are free( FOR ALL CHILDREN) and are paid for with the money from the ticket sales. This is a non profit organization whose employees work hard for zero salary or benefits. Their time and expenses for meetings and so forth have no reimbursement, ever. And they do no expect it, they are VOLUNTEERS..

The fish you catch will be measured at Tim Dodge Marine. Another volunteer, and prizes will be handed out there. Remember, NO child goes without a prize. A fabulous event. Pike, Walleye, Blue gills, Perch, Bass, all qualify for cash prizes for the longest fish.  So get them in, have them measured, and win, don’t assume they are not good enough. All fish must be legal size, and accompanied by a licensed person un- less under 17. You are welcome here  from any state or even country. You need not be a Long Lake land owner.

Bucks Bait shop will be open that morning early, at 6 AM to provide your fishing need, Fresh bait, Lorie Rigs, rods and reels and tackle.

We would like you to know that our shop takes great pride in stocking large quantities of minnows, and night crawlers, leeches and leaf worms. We are stocked 2 times a week and inspect all night crawlers before they leave the store to insure their freshness and your approval. Imagine if all your food was this closely monitored ? And please do yourself and your families a favor and get some proper perch rigs for your minnows. Of course we’re referring to the  now, very famous Lorie Rigs.
