FREE FISH WEEKEND

May 31st, 2017 by Budd

This June 10 and 11, is the annual spring free fish weekend. This means ANYONE  can fish anywhere in Michigan without a fishing license. But you must follow all rules that apply to fishing here.

Memorial weekend was a good weekend here, with some very good catches of walleye and bass. The  weather patterns however, were not that good for us. Plagued by rain and wind and low temps a lot of folks left the area early due  to this.

Walleye have been caught though in good numbers  in Long and Grand lakes on the fish-able days. Small mouth bass were caught in very good numbers and there were some perch and pike as well.

Off of Rockport harbor pier, some nice Atlantic Salmon have been caught. The golden shiners we sell here have worked well, and maybe better than artificial baits.

We have put up a new sign here, as the 25 year old sign we had was just wearing out too much. We hope you find it easier  to find our  shop now.

The most productive baits by far for those walleye were night crawlers on Lorie Rigs. Casting, trolling, jigging, the bite was just plain on and quite good.

OPEN 7-6 DAILY
