YES

Yes, the ice fishing tournament on LONG LAKE is a go. We have fielded a ton of phone calls this week regarding the lake conditions, the status of the ice and  certain  ice fishing contests, so we have the answers.

LONG LAKE  is the ONLY place we know of in this area that is still safe and having a contest. All others were cancelled.  The FISH FRENZY contest is this Saturday, Jan 28. It starts at 7 am and ends at 4 pm. The area to be fished is at the Mar Ral  DNR launch site. ( OFF WEST LONG LAKE ROAD )The tournament crew will be there to show you the area and to weigh in your fish, and award cash prizes. They will also be there to sell any one an entry that did not already get one. Cost is only $10.00 and all the money comes right back into prize money. The contest is for Walleye and Perch only. Fish must be alive and caught in the area specified by the contest judges.

BUCKS  bait shop will open at 6 AM Saturday morning to sell bait and tackle. We will be open 7 to 5 Friday as always.

The tournament director was on the ice in that area setting up equipment for the contest just a few hours ago. He said the ice is great, about 12 inches thick, and noticed no bad ice. He did in fact drive his pickup truck onto the area to drop off materials.  I am NOT recommending anyone do this I’m just saying ZAC did. Snow machines, quads etc have been on the ice regularly.

Still, be cautious, stay alert and good luck to all of you.

While at our shop we would like you to see our new Pike/Walleye tournament rigs. These are beautiful outfits with a glow treble hook, a  fly and heavier line to bring in those ” hawgs”.  Made by Lorie Rigs Inc.
