ICE FISHING TOURNAMENTS

December 29th, 2016 by Budd

There are now 3 ice tournaments scheduled for this winter. There will be more, but these three are for sure.

  1. Jan. 28, 2017 “FISH FRENZY OUTDOORS”.  LONG LAKE   $10.00 fee
  2. Feb 18, 2017  The Grand Lake association contest. Free admission.
  3. Feb 25, 2017  ” REEL FUN FISH TOURNAMENT.” $ 25.00 fee.

We have tickets for the Reel Fun contest and Fish frenzy contest.

Our ice on long and Grand lakes have been the source of endless phone calls and concern. So let me be clear. Most fishermen report 6 to 8 inches of ice, WHERE THEY FISH. The entire lake appears to be frozen, but caution is the ultimate survival tool for you. There is no snow on the ice at this time, and there have been numerous quads and snow machines on the ice as well as shanties. Seek out other people fishing  if  you are not familiar with the area. Ask questions as to the ice safety.

The other BIG question is how is the fishing. Right mow we have seen numerous pictures, and heard a LOT of stories, all good. Good numbers of perch, some good walleye catches and some very happy customers.  We are selling a lot of Blues and wax worms, and tackle of course too, so we know from that, that fishing has been good. There will be a few days in the forecast showing a slight warm up, then there will be a significant drop after about Jan. 5. Single digits and basically winter is back. In the meantime, our lakes appear to be safe, productive, and both are about 20 feet deep, which helps us have ice sooner and better than the deep lakes like Hubbard, etc.

WE ARE OPEN 7 TO 5
