WINTER IS OVER :-)

April 12th, 2016 by Budd

We have a very good weather report coming our way as of tomorrow. I say this with  a bit of apprehension and a lot of hope. We’ve been been hit with record snow falls for this time of year, and the evidence is still on the ground and even on our roof tops. ” They”  say we will hit 60’s and even maybe 70 in a few days, so let’s have it.

That’s it for the weather report for now. The boat docks are in at the small boat harbor in Alpena, and Lake Huron is wide open if any one is interested . There have been some folks standing in the Thunder Bay River at the 9th street dam,  [ 3 or 4 ] and I have not heard of any catches as of yet, but you do have to try  it to succeed.  Also the dam has one or two chutes open due to melting snow. rain, so there is a lot of current right there.  For more information on this, you might want to call Clem’s bait shop and speak to our friend Arnie. Tell him Budd and Lorie sent you. [989] 354-2070. He’ll be able to give you a good comprehensive fishing report for that area.

Long Lake is about 50 to 60 per cent open water, and Grand Lake about the same, but this big warm up will change that for the better and soon.

Our semi truck arrived just before the last 2 big storms, so we were able to re-stock and will be able to open May 6. About all we have left to do is rake the gravel out of the yard, so if you happen by, we do have extra rakes. Hey, it’s great exercise. And wait until you see all the goodies we have  here, wow, we can’t wait to go fishing too.

So, mark this date on your calender folks, MAY 6, the day after CINCO de MAYO.  We’ll be here at 7 am and  we hope to see you here too. Oh yes, we’ll have to order minnows and those big beautiful Giant crawlers for you too. 🙂

And also please remember, fish with Lorie Rigs for successful fishing trips. They are available at Buck’s Bait and Tackle, THE HOME OF  LORIE RIGS. !    [ over 300 choices too ! ]
