” POLAR VORTEX ” ?

January 10th, 2016 by Budd

Polar whatever, we have ice and a lot more is coming with this very cold weather that we now have. The next 2 weeks have nighttime temps around single digit figures. and we had good ice to start with.

And yes, the fish catching sounds good too, on both lakes now. We sold sold so much bait last week we were in real need of the bait truck on Friday. We’re getting a lot of happy folks in again and that is very good to see.

Lorie on Ice 2009

The most popular live bait so far has been our blues, no surprise, and also the Pike suckers are leaving this shop in good quantity.

The lures to put these guys on has been the Lorie Fly rigs, Buckshot spoons, Swedish Pimples, Hali Jigs, and Russian Hook spoons.

Depth wise sounds like around 12 to 14 feet, and the guys are all over the lakes, so there is no one or two “magic, guarantee, hot spot.”

Most guys are now telling me that they are fishing on about 5 or 6 inches of good hard ice, but be careful, remember the old adage ” No Lake Should Be Thought 100 % Safe.” No kidding. Yes there are some quads and some snow machines and shanties, but seriously folks, be careful and have a great time.
