THERE IS SOME ICE, HOWEVER…

December 20th, 2015 by Budd

We do have some ice forming in the shallower areas, and bays in both Long and Grand lakes. But it is not sufficient to call it good for ice fishing. The ice will continue to form, right after Christmas. Once we get past that holiday, [upper 40’s ] it looks like the nights will all be cold, and the days around the freezing mark. According to the weather charts for Jan, there will be no more 40 degree plus weather. We have to be patient and that is difficult to do when there is so much good fishing waiting for us. But safety is everyone’s main order of the day.

We have had some customer’s in the shop buying minnows and tackle, gift certificates, and most of them have been pulling small boats, and doing quite well with Perch and a few Walleye. But the ice age will soon end that.

A DNR officer stopped by yesterday to check my minnow license and certification of my minnows, and found everything in order as always, and informed that there was indeed some ice near the shorelines of the lakes. As you can see, that ice is just forming, but more is on the way.

We will be closed DEC 24, and DEC 25, and back open for the rest of the season, 8 to 5. Have a great and merry Christmas, and we’ll see you very soon.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !
