We are happy to be able to tell you that Long Lake and Grand Lake are completely open now. A tour around the lakes yesterday revealed only a  few bays still holding ice slush. I saw many forms of water fowl including a pair of Loons at the East bay on Long. Most folks who appreciate the outdoors are impressed with the sight and sound of those beautiful Loons.

Another nice sight was the installation of the docks at the Small Boat Harbor in Alpena. There were a few empty boat trailers there too, and one cruiser in the dock area. A good start.

We are still plagued with sub freezing nights, and below normal highs here, but Spring will eventually win out. We have fine tuned our opening date here at Buck’s Bait shop to May 16, just a few  weeks away now.
