HELLO 2014

December 31st, 2013 by Budd

Happy New Year folks.

We have had quite a good start here in our area for fishing, but the weather has played havoc off  and  on and it appears that we are now in a very cold period. We have  had 6 to 12 inches of ice on Long and Grand lakes, and initial reports of catches are quite good. We also had a lot of snow and a substantial warm up period that left some slush and water on the ice.  Today’s customers are telling us different stories, both good and bad with the ice, but the general consensus appears to be that the ice is forming rather nicely again.

We were shocked to hear that downstate in some areas there is no snow. We have about 12 to 16 inches on the ground here, and it is great for ice fishing, right now.

The forecast for the next three days is about zero at night, but by Saturday, they are telling us a high of mid 30’s might happen. After a good week of freezing air and a nice warm Saturday, we have high hopes for great fishing and great ice.

Our Lorie rigs continue to bring in rave reviews from customers regarding big pike, perch and walleye. If  you don’t have the genuine Lorie rig, do yourselves a favor and come in and get one. They are only $ 2.39, have two hand tied flies, are available in four sizes, 2,4,6,8, and six colors. They are made in Alpena, Michigan USA, by Lorie. Please, accept no cheap imitations.

Other lures working quite well so far are the Rapala jigging lures, and Swedish Pimples, and of course the Buckshot spoons. We have some absolutely beautiful Greys, Blues, and perch shiners. as well as pike suckers for you too.

Big pike, walleye and good numbers of perch have been caught and the season looks very good for all of you.

We are fully stocked with bait and tackle, and need to see you here soon. We hope you have a great New Year, and have good luck fishing.

We are open 7 to 5 daily

7 to 3  Sundays
