<\/a><\/p>\nThis past week we had a round of\u00a0weather\u00a0that was\u00a0definitely\u00a0not\u00a0conducive to \u00a0being out on the ice. We had rain, harsh winds and wet snow.\u00a0\u00a0By Thursday when I like to post the conditions of the ice etc. I had no news whatsoever and was not about to give a report based on my guess work. So, \u00a0sorry for the \u00a0delay but better safe than\u00a0tragedy. Yesterday we had enough folks in who actually drilled holes and fished to give you a decent ice report. The ice in one man’s story was 10 inches thick, with a layer of slush about two or three inches, but\u00a0fish able\u00a0and \u00a0it appeared to be freezing as the temps were around 10. He used a quad to get there and did have some luck with the perch, so he was indeed happy. This was Grand lake, and we have had similar stories from long lake as well.<\/p>\n
So now I can say this : that customers are telling me they have 10 to 12 inches of good solid ice, some slush, but not bad, and the fishing is good in their areas.<\/p>\n
As before they are using minnows mainly, some waxies and wigglers on Long, Blues on Grand, and the Lorie rigs continue to reign as top contenders in the hook department. We are in for a period now of bitter cold weather, just right for making ice and keeping you safe, but as always again, be careful out there, stay AWAY from pressure cracks, not close to them.<\/p>\n
Lorie and her husband took a snow mobile from the south end of \u00a0long \u00a0lake last week, to the very northern shore, Cook Stove area and \u00a0had no problem. But they went during daylight hours and were very observant of bad areas that might appear.<\/p>\n
