There is an ice fishing tournament coming JANUARY 28, 2017. You may be interested in this one. It is called \u00a0” FISH FRENZY OUTDOORS’ \u00a0and is being put together by a group of guys who held one last year as well. It only costs $10.00 to enter, and all money put in will be returned to prize money, for Walleye and Perch..The contest is from 7 am to 4 pm, Jan. 28, 2017. There will be three prizes per specie. \u00a0The fish will be measured on the ice. There are some very basic and I think good rules. You must be registered and wearing the red wrist \u00a0band given to you at signing. The start will be at the DNR Mar RAL boat launch at the North West end of Long Lake. All contestants will start from there at 7 am. There will be an area designated by officials as to where you may fish. You must bring in \u00a0your fish right away for measuring, and it must be alive. That’s it, simple but efficient.<\/p>\n

We have been open for two days now and have had quite a bit of business and some input. \u00a0Most customers tell me right now there is about 3 to 5 inches of ice, WHERE THEY ARE. There is some snow, some glare ice and some shanties and a few snowmobiles and quads out on both lakes already. BE CAREFUL. There is a lot of winter left to enjoy. We have heard that Walleye are hitting on Long lake. We assume this to be true because we are selling mostly Blues these past 2 days.
