RE-OPEN SOON :-)

April 26th, 2018 by Budd

After a long and punishing winter, we are finally done with blizzards and huge measures of snow. We are planning to re-open the bait shop May 11.

As of today though, (April 27) Long and Grand Lakes still have a layer of white ice all the way across except for small areas of water near the dams and shore line. Our temperatures are going to be back to a more normal range for spring, (50 to 60 degrees) and we expect there will be some interest in fishing right away and that the lakes will finally be completely thawed.

Our inventory will be replenished by then and live bait will be ordered. Our Lorie Rig walls will show some new colors and a lot of the familiar ones as well.

There will undoubtedly be some interest in fishing off of or out in, the Rockport Harbor area. Each year at this time we get quite a few folks on the pier or in boats trying to catch a variety of fish. These sometimes include Atlantic’s, Lake Trout, Browns, (rare) and other species. Enough to make the effort worth your time. We will have some live bait for those fish as well as some spoons and other tackle.

As most of you know who have ever fished these lakes, Perch fishing is always best first ice and first thaw. We have all you need to catch them as well, including those fabulous Lorie Perch Rigs.

That’s it for now, hope to see you soon. We will be open from 7 AM to 5 pm  when we first open, 7 days a week. MAY 11, 2018.
