LABOR DAY , SOON.

August 17th, 2016 by Budd

Labor day weekend is fast approaching. But there is still  time to get out fishing and catch some nice perch, walleye, etc.

We have been getting a few very nice reports of nice perch catches from Long Lake folks, as well as Grand Lake. It appears the bite is on in one place and then switches back and forth.

The bait best effective for the perch right now is live minnows, and the Lorie perch rigs, or fly rigs are the ticket. The walleye are hitting, and some reports are very good, some pretty good.  Bass are hitting  again and the top bait choice is baby suckers or night crawlers.

AND LAKE HURON CONTINUES TO SURPRISE US IN A GOOD WAY.  There are still a few salmon species coming in from Rockport, Presque Isle  and points north. We’re seeing more fish now than we have in years. We’re excited and are carrying some salmon spoons, flies, spin ‘n glows, and squids. If the trend keeps up we’ll be stocking a lot more salmon gear in 2017.

Sept 5 is Labor Day this year, so we have a few extra days to fish. Then when school starts, and vacations end, well you know, so enjoy it now.

WE ARE OPEN 7-5 DAILY

7-3 SUNDAYS
