STILL GOING STRONG HERE

February 7th, 2016 by Budd

It has been said that we may have the very best ice fishing lakes in all of Michigan right now. Who says? Well customers from Michigan and out of state, and vendors, and our minnow delivery people. We are very happy to hear all of this, but it gets even better. We also have some of the very best fishing going on right now, right here. Our lakes, Long Lake, Grand Lake, have great ice conditions, about 12 ” thick, and we are seeing fish photographed, and brought in here in pails, that are mighty proud looking specimens.

Right now, our ice has a crust of ice from the last snow storm, and a layer of slush and water about 2′ inches thick, then the good hard ice, about 12″ thick. This will all change soon due to extreme cold air coming. In fact, Feb 10 shows a low of 1. So all the water and slush will again be just plain ice.

The fish being caught are pike, walleye, and perch, and in good numbers and in good sizes. Real photo- op stuff. The live bait being used most is by far our beautiful  Blues for perch and walleye. We have Blues this year that are healthy, large and in good supply. The pike are hitting our suckers, and loving them too.

Do not go out there without a Lorie Rig or two to put these minnows on. If you need a demo, come in on week-ends and the manufacturer of these rigs, Lorie, will  BE available. We have other tackle as well of course, and still have some ice fishing tackle too.

WE ARE OPEN 7 TO 5 WEEK DAYS
